About Me

Hi! My name is Claudia Wenger and I have dedicated my career towards helping people with special needs live a meaningful life. I have worked in the special needs community since 1988.

I began as a special education teacher and early evaluator of special needs students in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Later, in private schools, I provided inclusion services for students K-12 facilitating their integration into the Least Restrictive Environment. I have managed a program for high school students with moderate to severe disabilities and developed and managed an independent living cop-op for young adults. More recently, I developed and managed Regional Center and Department of Rehabilitation programs supporting adults with special needs receiving services to live and work in their communities.

I received a B.S. in Education and M.S. in Special Education from the University of Southern California and hold State of California teaching credentials in Education and Special Education. I am currently working toward a Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA) credential at California State University, San Marcos.

Through this diverse experience, I have learned that every family has a different path and needs to access different services and varied support at each stage. I help families navigate and access the wide array of government services and when needed identify private services that can support individuals with special needs to live full and enriched lives. I can help realistically assess and compare options to make the best possible choice for life transitions. I am committed to supporting families and making a difference in the lives of individuals with special needs.

The mission of Claudia Cares Consulting is to support families and agencies striving to create the best life possible for individuals with special needs utilizing a person-centered approach.
